Team SHDW fanfic sample

One of the many wonders located in Beacon Academy grounds was its great library, filled to the brim with a plethora of books; mostly on history, fighting techniques and battle strategies. Among the various students entering the library are teams RWBY and JNPR, with each team’s respective leader gazing in awe at the vastness of the building.

“Wow, there are some many books!” Ruby practically squealed. “I wonder what different kinds of genres are here?”

“Don’t be distracted with those fairy tales you enjoy. We are training to become Huntresses, and we need all the knowledge we can get.” Weiss told her teammate.

“Oh come on, Weiss. Everyone needs something for their down time.” Yang told the heiress, who just gave the older sister a deadpan stare. “Here, let’s try to find something you might like.” Yang said, taking Weiss by the hand and bringing her along to a random book aisle, leaving Ruby, Blake, and JNPR.

Blake, unfazed by the blonde’s sudden action, walks off, with Ruby trailing behind her.

Snapping out of his awe, Jaune turned to his team and asked,
“So what should we search for?”

“Anything that will help in your training, Jaune,” said Pyrrha, placing her left hand on his left shoulder. “You are growing as a fighter, and I know a book that can help your defense.”

With that said, Pyrrha and Jaune headed to an aisle marked “Bladed Weapon Combat”, with Nora and Ren following close behind, passing the librarian’s desk, where a familiar rabbit-eared student was checking out 8 books; 2 for each member of her team, including herself.

Looking at the stack, the librarian asked, “You sure you can carry all of those by
yourself?”

“It’s okay, I’ll be fine,” Velvet responded and picked the stack, and began to walk to the exit, when she was suddenly forced to the ground by a push. Looking up, she saw CRDL, laughing at her and priding themselves in their “accomplishment”.

The librarian, who saw this, was clearly unhappy with what they did, and stood up to confront them.

“Team CRDL! How dare you show no respect to your fellow students!” The librarian screamed at the jerks, momentarily halting their haughty boasting. “I demand that you apologize and help Velvet!”

Cardin and his teammates just looked at each other, and broke out laughing.

“That’s funny. Us, help a freak like her?” Cardin said, with the sense of arrogance practically being felt by anyone listening. “Fat chance.”

And with that said, Cardin and his cronies swaggered out of the library, leaving the librarian in complete disgust and Velvet sitting up, her back to the desk, hugging her legs and her books still scattered on the ground.

“Those brutes deserve a leg-breaking,” muttered the librarian, and began to chase after them, but remembered Velvet and asked her, “You’re not too hurt, are you?

“No. It’s okay. Go after them. I’ll be fine,” Velvet said, forcing a smile to pretend that she’s alright.

As the librarian left to chase CRDL, Velvet’s smile turned to a frown and let out a single tear. “I’ll be just fine.”

Unbeknownst to her, a group of 4 also looked upon the event. One of them nodded to the others, signaling them to approach Velvet. Hearing their footsteps, Velvet stiffened and hugged her legs closer. Knowing that they are currently in front of her, Velvet looked up cautiously, with tear-filled eyes, expecting a new group of tormenters.

Instead, she saw a short, black-haired, blue-eyed girl holding out her right hand, while three guys were picking up the books.

“Come on. You gonna stand up, or what?” The girl asked Velvet, hand still reaching out to her.
